DAUK Women's Caucus and Black Caucus joint meeting, February 21, 2018

Coretta Scott King’s reflection reminds us of how far we have come in the struggle for equality and yet how much vigilance and activism we need to leave a better world than the one we were born into. During Black History Month, the words and deeds of Martin Luther King are often referenced, yet there have always been Black American women playing crucial roles in advancing civil rights for all Americans.

Please join us on Wednesday, February 21st for a joint meeting of the DAUK Women’s Caucus and the new DAUK Black Caucus. Learn about the impact and contributions of Black American women and activists, and share ideas about how their experiences intersect with other maligned communities to inspire us to act today from a well-informed place.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Come early to phone or write a postcard to your representatives in Congress to register your protest against the restrictive and destructive Republican legislative agenda. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. with WC committee reports and a look back at the rally on Whitehall on the first anniversary of the Women's March on January 21st.

At 7:30 p.m. DAUK Black Caucus will present “Freedom is Never Won, You Earn It and Win It in Every Generation,” followed by a workshop looking at the role education plays perpetuating unconscious bias in society today.
